How to learn KOREAN effectively...
Learning a new language can seem like a time consuming and kinda tough job and especially when you are not attending any classes.
Korean (Hangul) may look like a weird set of characters when you have no idea about anything. but once you learn this beautiful language (well every language is beautiful in its own way) you'll find it pretty easy.
So these are some tips I'm gonna share with you all that will help you learn Korean easily. Most of them are from my own experience while learning Hangul, and others being what I observe in many cases.
1. Watching Kdramas
Yup!watching kdramas, this is the most typical advice you'll ever get regarding learning Hangul. But you can't really overlook the fact that this is an important tool if used wisely.
This way learning the language will become more fun. This technique will be helpful in getting your pronunciation right as you hear actual people conversating.
2. Youtube.
There's nothing you can't learn from youtube, it's awesome, really! But make sure you land on the right information that you are seeking, and a lot of it actually comes from self-experience, that is if you don't jump from video to video you won't actually know what sorta information you require. So I suggest, know your level of learning the language at present and watch videos accordingly.
3. Learning from Apps.
We all carry around our mobile phones with us almost ALL THE TIME so instead of playing games or taking selfies why not use it to learn a particular skill There are several applications available on google play store as well as app store that helps in learning Korean (or any language at all). One of my favourite apps is "Lingodeer" which is available on google play store and is a pretty helpful one for learning Asian languages (no this ain't no sponsoring, just my opinion).
4. Maintaining Journal.
Writing down things have been a part of learning for ages. Same goes for learning a language, cause you can't just watch a video or read an article and master a language if that's what you want. You will have to write certain things you feel are important to make you learn this ish faster. It is easier to read your own handwriting and learn faster than reading any book or online article. So one thing is you go write things down every day its ok if it's only a word or two in Korean and remember to review it daily whenever you get time even 15 minutes a day will work.
5. KPOP.
The Hallyu effect is taking over the world and this is one of the prior reasons why people want to learn Hangul. Kpop can be really helpful in learning Korean as we come to know a lot about Korean culture, their music, and all that stuff through that. One way to benefit from this is after learning the alphabets you can go for reading the lyrics of your favourite song. This would not be the usual boring reading articles but you'll actually have fun and that's what matters.
6. Think Korean.
This is by far the most effective one on the list. Thinking the phrases of daily life in your mind in Korean and recalling whatever you learn every day is really helpful. This makes your brain used to this new information and therefore you can proceed without forgetting things.
Quick Tips.
- Do not rely on romanization of the kpop song lyrics for your pronunciation, as its all in English and not so helpful for beginners
- Learning from workbooks is also a good thing but its optional as there are several websites providing free pdf.
- Kpop is not the best place to learn pronunciation from, as they modify the words so that it would rhyme with there music.
- In order to learn a language you must love their culture, so I suggest you to start exploring Korean culture and love the country and its people then only all this will be fruitful.
Goodbye! Happy Learning.
